Mario Batali Doesn't Pronounce Sriracha Correctly

Today on The Chew, all of the co-hosts just assumed that since he's Mario Batali and they are not, that he was pronouncing Sriracha in the correct manner, and that all of them were wrong.  They were incorrect about that.  I've heard him say it before, pronouncing all of the letters (as I used to do), but that is not the right way.

Of course I would've just ignored this, as I have the many other times I've heard him say it, but when they all said they must all be wrong and he must be right, I had to comment.

I learned about the correct pronunciation a long time ago, when I was looking for recipes containing Sriracha.  Many, many places online basically said this:

It's not Sree-rah-chah, but instead is See-rah-chah.  You just skip pronouncing the first "R."

One example is this link:

http://www.foodbeast.com/2013/09/15/youre-probably-pronouncing-sriracha-wrong-and-7-other-things-you-didnt-know-about-rooster-sauce/

in which they say:

"1. It’s pronounced Sir-Rotch-Ah, not Sree-Rotch-Ah"

Okay, not exactly the way I wrote mine, but close enough.  Probably sounds the same.

My point is, Mario Batali is great, but he's not always perfect.  So, Chew co-hosts, don't assume that he is infallible.
